Apple is intensively completing the development of the software side of its Vision Pro smart glasses, which were launched in the middle of this month, in an effort to be ready to be put on the market by early next year, according to Bloomberg.

The agency stated in a report that some of the basic parts of the software interface of the glasses had not been developed, such as writing in the air and parts of the user interface, in addition to the need for Apple to develop iPad applications and services for the glasses, to be compatible with the new visionOS operating system.

And “Bloomberg” indicated that Apple still needs to adjust the operation of third-party applications with the glasses, in addition to how to shoot and display 3D content, as well as the EyeSight feature to show your eyes to others while using the glasses.

The American company must also adjust how the device works with medical lenses, in addition to making sure that the glasses are comfortable during their use, according to the agency.

The report indicated that Apple will begin to change its confidentiality policies regarding the glasses, after it used to allow only senior engineers and executives to take them to their homes, the company will need to change that, as it has allocated thousands of employees to work on developing various aspects of the glasses.

Next month is expected to start allowing select developers to get hands-on with the device to help them build apps.

At the same time, developers of basic iOS and iPadOS applications within Apple began working on new versions of the glasses, as the company offered only a small part of visionOS applications during the launch event this month because new versions of calendar services, maps, books, mail and others are not finished yet.

The report indicated that some observers noticed during Apple’s annual developer conference WWDC 2023 that the EyeSight feature did not work on experimental devices, suggesting that this was due to the company’s attempt to maintain secrecy, as this feature is considered one of the most important competitive points that Apple is trying to distinguish its glasses from competitors. It also explains the strict measures the company has put in place around media and influencers trying out the new glasses.

It is noteworthy that one of the users of the glasses explained that its structure was very heavy after a few hours of use, while others suffered from motion sickness, but on a smaller scale than the competing glasses, according to the report.

To address the weight problem, Apple has developed an additional strap that goes over the head, but the company is considering selling this strap as a separate accessory rather than being included in the box.

Apple plans to create new areas within its stores to experience the glasses, in order to market the new device, and these spaces will allow buyers to choose the correct size straps and the Light Seal cover, which prevents external light from entering the glasses.

The report also indicated that Apple has developed an iPhone app to scan customers’ faces inside its stores, to help determine the correct size of light-blocking shade, and is also considering releasing it as an app for consumers who shop online.

In its report, the agency pointed out that Apple has begun to redistribute some work teams and direct them to develop technologies and features for future generations of smart glasses, one of which is the more advanced second generation of Vision Pro, and the second is a low-cost generation.
