Bloomberg News reported on Tuesday that Apple company It plans to start manufacturing iPhone 14 phones in India about two months after the initial release of the product in China.
The report, citing people familiar with the matter, said the company is working with suppliers to increase production in India and reduce manufacturing delays for new iPhones, which ranged from six to nine months in previous versions.
Apple did not immediately respond to a Archyde.com request for comment.
Apple, which has long made most of its iPhones in China, has been searching for alternatives amid the clash between Beijing and Washington and after COVID-19 shutdowns disrupted economic activity in the Asian giant.
In an interview with Al-Arabiya, the technological expert, Abdullah Al-Sabaa, said that most technology companies are looking for alternatives to manufacturing instead of China, noting that China has acquired most industries in the past periods.
Al-Sabaa added that Apple has several factories around the world in the United States, Brazil, China, Vietnam and India.
He pointed out that India may be a good alternative to China due to the presence of cheap labor, in addition to the presence of specialists in information security during the past years.
He stated that the obstacles facing companies operating in China at the present time are the sudden closures in the country, which affects supply chains.
Al-Sabaa believes that it is difficult in the current period to dispense with manufacturing in China, adding that what distinguishes China is the presence of many specialists in different fields in one specialty.
