Apple Podcasts Popularity Is Declining – LSA Magazine

Podcasts have experienced an unprecedented boom in recent years, and most of this is also due to high-quality podcast apps that serve this form of entertainment to people. It was their king for a long time. Apple with its native Podcasts app, which in the past was the most popular among users. However, this is gradually changing as competitors such as YouTube or Spotify become stronger.

This is not the case even in the US, Apple’s home country, where Apple Podcasts has long held a top position among podcast apps. However, that is no longer the case. According to a new survey by Cumulus analysts, Apple Podcasts is used by only 12% of podcast listeners in the US. By far the most used app for listening to podcasts is YouTube with 31%, followed by Spotify with 21%. And since YouTube has a lot to offer thanks to the combination of image and video, it cannot be expected to fall from the throne of podcast apps in a visible position – quite the opposite. In that case, Apple will have to implement a number of attractive innovations in its app to make it more interesting for users if it wants to fight at least for second place with Spotify.
