Apple releases first beta of iOS 16.1 for developers

Apple just released a beta version for iOS 16.1. This is the first pre-release that was initially published in the developer program. The build number is 20B5045d. We checked the updates.

iOS 16.1 beta for developers

Little is known about the changes so far. This is mainly due to the fact that Apple usually hardly announces any information with the publicly available release notes at the start – and we therefore always wait for the first tests after the updates to discover new features. However, we have translated the release notes for you and added them to the end of the article.

iOS 16.1 mainly brings improvements and bug fixes

What other changes will be introduced has not yet leaked out. Previously, it was only called “improvements and bug fixes”. We will provide the information later if details beyond the release notes become known in a timely manner.

Also released are new beta updates for iPadOS 16.1, as well as updates for watchOS 9.1, tvOS 16.1 and HomePodOS 16.1 in the developer program.

Here’s how you can participate in the beta program

Apple initially only released all new beta updates to registered developers. The new beta will also appear in the public beta program, but it is still unclear when the update will start.

The main difference between the beta programs is that the public beta program is free, but developers pay an annual fee. As soon as Apple starts the update, you can get it as an over-the-air update as a registered beta tester. If you haven’t already signed up for the public beta program, you can do so at any time.

To register for the program at beta.apple.com/sp/de/betaprogram you must register with a supported device. Your Apple ID is required for this.
