According to the New York Timesa Apple would be negotiating with news outlets and publishers in the United States with the aim of obtaining licensing agreements to use the content of these outlets in the development of generative artificial intelligence systems.
Sources familiar with the negotiations revealed to the American newspaper that Maçã would have proposed multi-year agreements worth a minimum of US$50 million to license gigantic files containing news articles.
Among the companies contacted would be Condé Nast (publisher of Vogue and The New Yorker), NBC News and IAC — which owns some outlets such as People and Better Homes & Gardens magazines, as well as the website The Daily Beast.
