Apple has just officially launched its WWDC 2022 Keynote.
After some information about Developer Academies, Apple announces what’s new for iOS 16. Check out all the new announcements below.
New in iOS 16
New locked screen
One of the big new features in iOS 16 will be a new look for the lock screen. It will allow the user to customize it even more.
Personalization
It will now be possible to customize your screen with a simple tap on the bottom of the screen. Customization is taken a notch.
Concretely, on the lock screen, it will be possible to match the wallpaper and the lock screen widgets.
Notification
iOS 16 brings a new notification style called “Live Activities” for live events like sports scores, Uber status, sports workouts. In addition, notifications now arrive from the bottom of the screen as they are received and no longer from the top.
Concentration
After bringing “Focus” mode to iOS, Apple is taking customization one step further. Apple adds new concentration modes that can work with applications, to filter content in Safari (work, messages, calendar, mail, etc.)
Messages
Apple has also improved its Messages application by providing the possibility of:
- delete a post
- edit a message
- Mark message as unread
SharePlay
SharePlay apps are now listed directly in FaceTime. We now have the possibility to see all the applications that we can share. With a SharePlay button in Messages, it’s possible to text while watching something else.
Dictation mode
With “Dictation”, you can alternate between voice and keyboard to send your emails. Dictation also adds automatic punctuation. Text detection is updated to work with video, it is possible to pause a video on any frame and interact.
Wallet
Wallet will be able to secure its identity with third-party applications. Some states have the ability to include IDs through Wallet. One of the novelties is Apple Pay Later, a possibility that allows you to pay in installments without charge.
The iPhone is also officially becoming a payment terminal! (without any additional material)
Plans
The new presentation arrives in 11 new countries including Belgium. In addition to this, Las Vegas, Miami, Chicago, and Sydney will have their 3D view.
Familly Sharing
This feature allows new security for your children. Regarding Parental Control, Apple brings new functions for information sharing and facilitates the installation of a new device.
In addition to parental controls, Apple created “iCloud Shared Photo Library”. This will allow you to share your photos with your family in a very simple and almost immediate way.
Privacy
With its new “Safety Check” feature, Apple brings new security checks to protect people. You can manage access to applications, passwords, etc. We can now know who owns their passwords and information.
Homekit
A new Home app: redesigned interface, easier to use. Rooms and favorites in the main app tab. New categories for weather, lights, security.
CarPlay
Preview of the next generation. Integration with many other car controls including air conditioning, speedometer etc.
It is possible to access all vehicle parameters, even to replace the speedometer.
