Apple Vision Pro will have speed limitation and “Travel Mode”

After several rumors, the Apple Vision Pro has finally been announced — as widely reported by the MacMagazine. Although its launch is scheduled for early 2024, every day more details are emerging about what the device will be able to do.

New feature, revealed by 9to5Mac, is that the Vision Pro may have speed limitations. This means that if the user is moving too fast, the device will stop working or at least limit its functions.

The site says that the headset will display visual alerts saying “You are moving too fast” and will temporarily hide what the user is seeing until he enters a speed considered safe.

This, according to them, aims to ensure that people do not use the device while driving, for example. In addition, it is possible that it is difficult for the device to keep up with everything around a user while he is moving quickly.

Also, the Apple Vision Pro may experience issues when it is too close to objects. O 9to5Mac said to have discovered alerts such as: “You are too close to an object” and “Move away”, indicating that it can be difficult to use the device in small places.

Another interesting point is the “Travel Mode” (“Travel Mode”) included in visionOS. When the user is on an airplane, the user needs to activate it to continue using Apple Vision Pro. However, the options for using the device will be limited and you will need to sit still to get the best performance.

These limitations raise questions about whether the headset is suitable for physical activities, as Apple did not show the device being used for that purpose. Apparently, movement restrictions may make it difficult to use in situations like this.

Still this week, Apple released the visionOS SDK and, starting next month, it will be possible to request a development kit. Finally, Apple also announced the opening of laboratories in several cities around the world, where developers will be able to test their applications on the Apple Vision Pro before the official launch.
