Apple Watch helps detect severe bleeding

There have already been several cases where the Apple Watch helped save lives in situations like accidents or heart problems. However, the watch’s sensors can reveal other conditions by detecting symptoms and changes that manifest themselves, for example, through heartbeats, which are monitored by the smartwatch.

And that’s what happened to a user identified in the Reddit as “digitalmophos”. According to the report, he took a nap after lunch and woke up to several notifications that his heartbeat was racing. After making a call with a doctor, who verified the measurements, the user went to the emergency room.

Arriving at the hospital, he discovered that he had a internal bleeding and with a blood hemoglobin concentration of only 3 grams per deciliter (normal is 15g/dL). In another report, it was said that the user lost five bags of blood, in addition to being diagnosed with esophagitis, gastritis, duodenitis and hiatus hernia.

“If I had not received a transfusion, I would not have survived”, he said he heard in the hospital, in addition to pointing out that the Apple Watch Series 7 “saved his life”. If not for the clock, he would have fainted or even passed away without even knowing the reason, having been a timely surprise to save himself.

Stories like this — in which the user discovers unexpectedly that he has a condition — are more common in cases of atrial fibrillation, as happened to one of our readers, although the most recent report shows that other problems can be detected with the help of the Apple Watch!
