The SWR EXPERIMENTALSTUDIO enables young composers to work on their works on site by awarding scholarships. Such a working stay enables collaboration with the SWR EXPERIMENTALSTUDIO team and the use of the studio equipment.
In certain cases, the Experimental Studio also grants a work grant to cover the costs of the stay (board and lodging, travel).
Work scholarships are usually awarded for a period of between two to four weeks. A decision is made on incoming applications at the end of October each year for the calendar year after that.
Composers can apply for a working stay at the SWR Experimental Studio.
This enables collaboration with the experimental studio team and the use of the local equipment.
The funding period for the work stay is usually 2-4 weeks.
The following documents are requested for the selection process:
- Completed application form
- Curriculum vitae
- Project description of the composition to be realized in the experimental studio
- Role of electronics in composition
- Composition schedule
- How much time is needed in the experimental studio?
- Scheduled performances
- Previous applications to the experimental studio
- Have you already worked in the experimental studio? In which projects?
- Letter of recommendation (if available)
- 2 – 3 scores (as PDF)
- Recordings (in MP3 or MP4 format) of the submitted works (if available) or other works
The Board of Trustees, which decides on the awarding of scholarships, meets at least once a year to select scholarship holders for the calendar year after next.
Applications must be submitted digitally by the end of October.
