Apprenticeship: Irving Pulp & Paper invests in skilled trades

2023-12-01 18:51:31

Irving Pulp & Paper is investing in skilled trades, with twenty apprentices currently working at the mill, four of whom are expected to receive their Red Seal certification in the coming year.

The twenty apprentices are industrial electricians, industrial mechanics (millwrights) and instrumentation and control technicians. The growing demand for skilled tradespeople in New Brunswick highlights the importance of ensuring top-notch programs and support for apprentices right here in the province.

“Being able to continue to progress in my career by learning from high-level professionals while remaining in New Brunswick is the best for me,” says Mitch Gallant, apprentice industrial electrician.

Apprenticeship has long been an integral part of post-secondary education in New Brunswick and plays a major role in the development of careers in the skilled trades. We invest in the next generation of talent while providing rewarding careers right here at home.

The Pulp and Paper Division of JD Irving Limited employs more than 220 tradespeople and continues to hire more. For more information on available positions, visit the website:
