Arab Clubs Making History: Saudi Pro League Aims for UEFA Champions League Entry

Arab clubs are reportedly preparing to compete in the UEFA Champions League. It is reported that Saudi Pro League clubs have started the moves to play in the 2025 Champions League. There are indications from the Riyadh headquarters of the Arab Football Federation and the offices of the head coaches of the leading clubs in the country that negotiations are underway with UEFA.

The move is part of making Saudi football more popular. ‘Khale Now’ reports that from the 2024-2025 season, the winners of the Saudi Pro League have also been asked to qualify for the Champions League through wild card entry. Pro League officials have requested UEFA to demolish the current format of the Champions League and conduct the league with a total of 36 teams.

Saudi Arabia was the center of attention in world football with the arrival of Portugal superstar Cristiano Ronaldo Al Nasser, France’s Karim Benzema to Al Ittihad and Brazilian sensation Neymar Al Hilal. Ngole Canre, Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane, Hakim Ziyech, Riyad Mehrez, Kalidou Koulibaly and Jordan Henderson have all joined Saudi clubs.
