In her small workshop in Saint-Yrieix-la-Perche (Haute-Vienne), Corinne, the manager of “Aralco’s sewing” is hard at work. Between two orders, this professional seamstress takes the time to make a “Lovelybag”. A small bag specially designed to accommodate the drain of a woman with breast cancer. Like Corinne, around a hundred seamstresses, amateurs and professionals, from Haute-Vienne are registered on the “Lovely Solidarity“, the association which launched the making of these bags.
“Providing support to your warriors”
In two years of existence in Haute-Vienne, the association’s volunteers have made around 400 bags. In cotton, each one is unique. It’s a real tool to better cope with the illness, as Céline Flagel, coordinator of the association in Haute-Vienne, explains: “It is a gift to his wives, they can choose the Lovelybag that they like the most. The idea is to provide support to its warriors during this very difficult period for them.”
Lovely Solidarity looking for partner hospitals in Haute-Vienne
These bags are distributed to patients in the association’s partner hospitals. Unfortunately there are none in Haute-Vienne, which prevents patients from taking advantage of these Lovelybags distributed free of charge. The made bags reached Bordeaux. But finding partner establishments is not the only need of the association. Lovely Solidarity is at the looking for new volunteers for sewing (no regularity is required) and cotton scraps to make the bags. If you are interested, go to the association’s website.
