A Lewisville native with a decade-and-a-half of experience designing diverse projects, from multi-family residences to college stadiums, is bringing his architectural expertise back to eastern Idaho.
finding Roots in Design
Seth Ellsworth, 38, found his passion for design early in life, spending hours building with Legos and later working in his father’s metal fabrication shop and his uncle’s wood shop. “From the moment seth started playing with Lego as a kid, he has enjoyed designing and building things,” he says.
After graduating from Rigby High School, Ellsworth studied at the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago, where he honed his skills and contributed to the design of a field chapel in Germany. “That’s the project I’m most proud of,” Ellsworth admits.
Bringing a Fresh Perspective to Eastern Idaho
Ellsworth founded LHOOQ Design in 2009, based in Los Angeles. He recently obtained his Gem State license and is eager to apply his experience to projects in eastern Idaho. He feels there’s room for innovation in the region’s residential and commercial architecture.
“Everybody’s been building the same house for decades, and there are other ways to do things. I think there’s room for some of that (here),” ellsworth explains.
A Diverse Portfolio of Experience
Ellsworth’s portfolio showcases his versatility, encompassing multi-family residential buildings, commercial and retail spaces, restaurants, and projects for colleges and public schools. Notably, his largest project to date is a 28-story apartment building in San Francisco featuring a ballet school on the ground floor.
He’s also involved in projects such as a college football stadium in the midwest and, of course, the field chapel in Germany.
Looking Ahead
Maintaining a strong commitment to both creativity and functionality, Ellsworth is excited to contribute his unique vision to the eastern Idaho landscape. his ambition is to work on projects that not only meet the needs of clients but also push the boundaries of architectural possibilities.
the return of a skilled architect like Ellsworth promises to inject new energy and ideas into eastern Idaho’s architectural scene. He’s a testament to the power of dreams and dedication, proving that even after achieving success in a major city, returning to one’s roots can be incredibly rewarding.
Idaho Falls Architect Focuses on User Experience
An Idaho Falls native is making waves in the architecture world, bringing a unique approach that prioritizes user experience and functionality over purely aesthetic design. Liam Ellsworth, founder of LHOOQ Design, believes that buildings should be as seamless and intuitive to use as possible. His philosophy is reflected in his work, which blends practicality with modern design elements.
“My approach is about how people use the space and the experience of being in it, as opposed to some kind of sculptural approach,” Ellsworth explains. “When I’m starting a project,I do a lot of ‘day-in-the-life’ scenarios with the owners to figure out (their lifestyle) and design it accordingly.”
Ellsworth’s journey has been fueled by a passion for creating spaces that enhance people’s lives. He has seen his designs come to life in various projects, some of which have even been featured in aerial shots on movie sets and television shows. As he continues to grow his business, Ellsworth is excited to collaborate with clients in eastern Idaho, helping them realize their architectural visions.

Interview: Liam Ellsworth of LHOOQ Design brings User Experience to Architecture
Liam Ellsworth, founder of LHOOQ Design, is shaking things up in the architecture world with a fresh approach that prioritizes space functionality and user experience. His philosophy blends practicality with modern design elements, resulting in spaces that are both beautiful and intuitive to navigate. We recently sat down with Liam to chat about his unique perspective and the importance of putting people first in design.
How did your journey into architecture begin, Liam? What inspired your focus on user experience?
“I’ve always been fascinated by the built environment and how it impacts our lives,” liam explains. “As I started exploring architecture more deeply, I realized that it’s not just about aesthetics. It’s about creating spaces that truly work for the people who inhabit them. I believe that buildings should be as seamless and intuitive to use as possible. It’s about understanding how people move, interact, and live within a space, and designing accordingly.”
Can you describe your process for incorporating user experience into your architectural designs?
“My approach is very collaborative,” Liam says. “I always start by spending time with my clients, really understanding their needs and lifestyle. I conduct ‘day-in-the-life’ scenarios to visualize how they’ll use the space. This allows me to incorporate their individual preferences and habits into the design.”
Your work has been featured in aerial shots on movie sets and TV shows. What’s it like to see your architectural vision come to life on screen?
“It’s incredibly rewarding to see my designs on display in such a public way,” Liam admits, a hint of pride in his voice. “it’s a testament to the hard work and passion that goes into each project. It’s also a fantastic opportunity to showcase the aesthetic and functional possibilities of thoughtful design.”
What advice would you give to homeowners in Eastern Idaho who are considering an architectural project?
“Don’t be afraid to think outside the box,” Liam encourages. “Consider how your home can evolve with your needs and lifestyle. Don’t just focus on aesthetics; prioritize functionality and user experience. And most importantly, choose a designer who truly listens to your vision and collaborates with you every step of the way.”
Looking ahead, what are your aspirations for LHOOQ Design?
“I’m excited to continue working with clients in Eastern Idaho, helping them create spaces that truly reflect their personalities and enhance their lives,” Liam concludes. ”My goal is to push the boundaries of traditional architectural design and demonstrate the transformative power of thoughtful, user-centered spaces.”
