Are you entitled to compensation? Producer users are invited to check how many unused kilowatt-hours they have | Business

“Unused kilowatt-hours will be written off by ESO, as provided by the Renewable Energy Law. Regarding the payment of compensations, generating consumers should contact the independent electricity suppliers with whom they have signed contracts. It is in them that the procedure for compensations and their payment conditions are provided”, says Rasa Juodkienė, ESO’s public relations representative.

ESO will pay compensation for the amount of electricity stored but not used for the consumers who are in the guaranteed supply. Compensation will be calculated for the actual, but not more than 5 percent. the total amount accumulated and supplied to the networks during the accounting period. Calculations are carried out in accordance with the procedure provided for in the Energy Law on Renewable Resources and the price of electricity.

“I want to emphasize that compensations for generating consumers under guaranteed supply are calculated only for the amount of electricity that was stored but not used while under guaranteed supply,” says the representative of ESO.

According to R. Juodkienė, ESO has already informed customers of guaranteed supply about the write-off of unused kWh at the end of March and familiarized them with the compensation mechanism. Users can also find a message about the end of the accounting period for the amount of accumulated electricity ESO self-service in the “Consumption History” section.

Consumers will see compensated quantities and amounts of accumulated electricity in the April bill, which will be generated in May within 1-3 working days.

Needs analysis is essential

ESO experts point out that those considering what power solar power plant should be installed should first analyze their needs. Once the demand is accurately calculated, the energy can be used in the domestic grid without giving it back to the grid. In order to avoid excess electricity, R. Juodkienė has several tips for consumers.

“Currently, more than 800 thousand have already been installed in Lithuania. smart meters. Customers with smart metering devices can analyze the amount of electricity consumed and not only adjust their habits to save, but also analyze the data. The latter show exactly what time of day and how much energy is consumed. Based on these data, together with specialists, you can calculate your needs and take them into account when deciding what power of a solar power plant is needed,” says R. Juodkienė.

She points out that the essence of the generating user model is the consumption of produced energy in the internal network for own needs without giving it to the network.

“Even 95 percent generating consumers are connected to the grid free of charge, but if bandwidth is used up in individual sections of the grid and you want to connect your power plant to the grid, the grid must be reconstructed. In this case, customers need to cover 50 percent. network reconstruction costs, as provided by law. The consumption of produced electricity without giving it to the grid can make this process significantly cheaper,” says the representative of ESO.

Tips for installing a solar power plant:

  • Before planning to install a solar power plant, we advise you to first consult with specialists. They will advise where on the roof and at what angle to install the power plant. The best efficiency of the operation of the solar power plant will be achieved if the roof is oriented to the south or southeast and has the right angle so that the least amount of shadow falls on the solar power plant. For example, if the solar power plant is oriented to the south, and its modules are tilted at an angle of 30-40 degrees, a 1 kW power plant should generate about 950-1050 kWh per year. If you choose the wrong angle, the amount of electricity produced will be much less.
  • Professional assessment of roof size and condition. The technical condition of the roof must be impeccable. Another important factor is the size of the roof. It is understandable that more solar modules can be installed on the roof of a large house, but in the end, only professionals can assess whether the roof structure, direction and possible installation angle are generally suitable for a solar power plant.
  • It is advisable to look into the technical maintenance of the power plant in advance. Think about how long it will take to clean the modules and who will do it. In order for the power plant to work efficiently, it is necessary to periodically clean dust and dirt from the modules.
  • It should be taken into account that technical diagnostics of the power plant will also require additional costs: control of module operation, monitoring of inverters, diagnostics of other important components.
  • It is necessary to periodically replace or update system components that are damaged or simply become obsolete over time (for example, inverters).
  • The power plant will operate in maximum efficiency mode with regular system performance checks and data analysis.
