Argentina champion of the Pan American speed canoeing with the presence of paddlers from Río Negro

The Pan American Speed ​​Canoeing Championship finished in the junior and sub 23 categories in Chile, where the delegation of our country was crowned champion by the sum of medals. Four from Río Negro took part and were decisive since they contributed 16 of the 51 medals that the team won.

The contest had the participation of 11 countries and was organized and supervised by the National Canoeing Sports Federation of Chile and the Pan American Canoe Confederation (COPAC). The host, Argentina, Uruguay, Bolivia, Colombia, Venezuela, Guatemala, Ecuador, Paraguay, Puerto Rico, and Peru.

The Big Lagoon of San Pedro de La Paz from the neighboring country, was the scene of the competitions that were held on Saturday and Sunday. That place will be the same where the 2023 Pan American Games will be held.

Argentina prevailed in the medal table against the home owner, reaching a total of 51of which 19 were gold, 29 silver and 3 bronze.

The performance of the rionegrinos Vicente Vergauven (Viedma), Piero Pizarro (Viedma), Joaquín Catalano (Choele Choel) and Valentino Bruno (Luis Beltrán) was vital to that achievement.

They got 16 medals of the 51 in total for the countryof which 12 were gold and the remaining 4 silver.

in the medal table, Chile was in second place with a total of 39 medals (18 gold, 12 silver and 9 bronze) and the third place went to Uruguay, which reached a total of 24 (3 gold, 8 silver and 13 bronze medals).

By economic situation several countries, including Argentina, had prioritized the World Cup youth and not this Pan American. However, the Chilean Canoeing Federation had offered these countries payment for transportation, lodging, and food, which allowed the participation of the national team that ended up becoming champion.
