An interesting poll was conducted in Argentina in September. They investigated what the public knows about cryptocurrencies and how interested they are in investing in stablecoins and digital dollars. It should be known about Argentina that inflation is currently the fourth highest in the world, at 124% annually. Only three other countries produced a higher rate than this (Venezuela, Lebanon and Syria). In 2023 alone, the national currency, the peso, lost 55.2% of its value against the dollar. Cryptos are an escape route from inflation for Argentines The poll was commissioned by the Bitso crypto exchange. 25.3% of those surveyed would definitely buy digital dollars if they had savings. 20% said they would consider it and only 15.8% said they were not so attracted to this option. The digital dollar is the most popular cryptocurrency in Argentina. Precisely because it has the same value as the US dollar and is therefore perfect for preserving the value of money. In Argentina, 40.1% of the population, almost 30 million people, live below the poverty line. This means that almost a third of all households in the country do not have enough money to buy basic items, not to save. So, even though half of the population said in the current poll that they would buy stablecoins, a significant part of them do not have any savings for it. However, those who can, try to invest in digital dollars, especially after the primary elections in August. After it was decided which party and movement, which main candidate will represent in the October election, transactions of this type tripled only on the Bitso stock exchange. By the way, according to the above-mentioned poll, knowledge of cryptocurrencies increased by 5% and now stands at 37%. By definition, the 16-29 age group knows the most about cryptocurrencies, followed by the under 49 age group. It is interesting that the proportion of those over 65 who know crypto also increased, from 13% to 21%. It must be mentioned that the public opinion survey was carried out by interviewing 1,599 people. They carried out all 23 provinces of the country and with the largest possible representative sample selection. Another crypto poll conducted since the primaries also revealed that the supporters of Javier Milei and Sergio Massa are the most crypto-friendly.
