Armed men arrived at a bathing place, in Remedios, and opened fire on those present. They did it “without saying a word,” according to Colonel Daniel Mazo, commander of the Antioquia Police. Two people were left dead and two more, seriously injured, were taken to a hospital.
The events occurred in the village of El Otún. Mazo specified that the two dead people were young. “The wounded wasThey were transferred to the municipal hospital and it became necessary to take them to Medellín,” explained the colonel. Later it was learned that one of them, despite receiving care, lost his life.
The policeman added that the reconstruction of the events is being carried out with the Prosecutor’s Office and the Sijín. For this, help from the community is required, because with witnesses it is intended to know what exactly happened.
Once that is done, the motives for the armed attack will be investigated.
This is the second multiple homicide that occurs in Remedios in less than a week. It had already happened on February 7 when two people were attacked in the El Matadero neighborhood.
And it is that the situation of public order is complex in the Northeast and in particular in Remedios. At the beginning of February, threats from the ELN were reported against merchants who refused to pay extortion. That guerrilla spread threatening pamphlets against those who refused to pay for “the vaccine”. The Mining Board of Segovia and Remedios also denounced, just a week ago, that the group “Los Caparros” had spread another pamphlet threatening a mining leader.
For this reason, the Government of Antioquia held the Security Council from Remedios. Luis Fernando Suárez, Human Security Beings of Antioquia, said that the actions of the public force are being “focused” to control the actions of illegals.
