Abuja/Niamey/Berlin – In the West African economic community Ecowas, preparations are underway to assemble armed forces for a possible military intervention in Niger. On Saturday, the army chiefs of the Ecowas states will meet in Accra, Ghana’s capital, for consultations. On Thursday, Ecowas ordered the activation of a so-called riot force, but stressed that peaceful means would take precedence.
