Armed fugitive keeps police in check

American police warned Tuesday that the Brazilian criminal who escaped from prison on August 31, Danelo Cavalcante, was armed, calling on the population of a region near Philadelphia to be very vigilant.
Danelo Cavalcante, 34, was sentenced in mid-August in the United States to life in prison for stabbing his former girlfriend to death, in front of the victim’s child, during an argument in April 2021 The Brazilian managed to escape from the Chester County Jail in Pennsylvania. For almost two weeks, he has been the target of a vast manhunt led by hundreds of law enforcement agents equipped with helicopters, drones and search dogs. This hunt became embarrassing for the American police, who spotted him several times without being able to arrest him.
Change appearance
On Tuesday, Pennsylvania State Police said they were pursuing the fugitive in South Coventry, Chester County, 30 miles (50 kilometers) northwest of Philadelphia. “Cavalcante is armed. Residents in the area are asked to continue to lock all exterior doors and windows, secure vehicles and stay indoors,” she said in a Facebook post. Police asked residents to check their surveillance cameras and contact them if they saw anything suspicious, while warning them not to approach Mr. Cavalcante.
On Sunday, she explained that the fugitive had changed appearance, having shaved the dark beard and mustache that we saw on his first wanted poster. Authorities released four photos of him standing on the porch of a home.
This little brown man, measuring 1.50 m and 54 kg, according to the wanted notice, is considered “extremely dangerous”, “someone who is desperate and who does not want to be caught”, the authorities warned. According to police, he is also wanted for a murder committed in Brazil, the reason he fled his native country.
