Several days following the start of its controversial operation in the largest hospital in the Gaza Strip, the Israeli army presented further evidence of its terrorist use. The Israeli army announced on Sunday on The terrorist organization Hamas has always denied that there are such tunnels under hospitals.

The Israeli army said the tunnel was secured with a bomb-proof door. “These types of doors are used by the terrorist organization Hamas to prevent Israeli forces from entering command centers and underground facilities owned by Hamas.” The military also released a video showing a narrow concrete tunnel and a gray door. There was no information regarding what was behind the gray door. Israeli troops are also busy “discovering the route of the tunnel,” the military said. According to the army, the access shaft to the tunnel was located in a wooden shack on the hospital grounds. Ammunition was also found there.

Despite international criticism, Israeli soldiers have been deployed in and around the largest clinic in the Gaza Strip for days. Israel accuses the Islamist Hamas of using the hospital for “terrorist purposes” and of operating a “command center” under the buildings. Hamas denies this.

According to the army, “more than 100 terrorists” have been arrested in the Gaza Strip in recent days. These include “responsible people who are said to have revealed the locations of underground tunnels, storage facilities and weapons”. This information might not initially be independently verified.
