The Oral Criminal Court of Concepción (TOP) sentenced a Army sergeant who shot a man in the leg in October 2019during the social outbreak.
Unanimously, the TOP handed down the condemnatory verdict against Hernán Herrera Villa, due to illegitimate coercion.

According to the background of the case, the event occurred on the afternoon of Tuesday, October 22, 2019, in the vicinity of Condell de Concepción square, in the Bío Bío region.
In that place, around 7:30 p.m., the victim, Gastón Alejandro Santibáñez Palomera, was going to his home on Bulnes street, when was controlled by a military patrol.
This group was made up of three Army officials, who monitored compliance with the curfew decreed in the area.
In that context, the Sergeant Herrera Villa shot Santibáñez in the leg with the riot gun he was carrying, causing less serious injuries.
Therefore, the Public ministry formalized the defendant as the perpetrator of the consummated crime of illegitimate coercion, an accusation that was accredited by the TOP of Concepción.
Finally, the reading of the sentence against the accused will be next Thursday, June 22, at 1:30 p.m.
