Information taken from the spokesperson for Brussels Airport Company, Nathalie Pierard explains to us that Mondays are always busier overall, “especially after a long weekend”, she says. On Wednesday, the airport had already recorded a high rate of departures and many travelers had also booked flights in last minute. The company was therefore expecting big days on Sunday and Monday. “Since this Monday morning, around 9:30-10 a.m., there have indeed been many more people at passport controls, on arrival for non-Schengen passengers”, continues the spokesperson for Brussels-National airport. This can be explained by the simultaneous arrival of several flights.
However, the situation is improving. “If we look at the arrival rate in the next few hours, it will decrease, because there are fewer arrivals.”
