A 24-year-old man, wanted in Belgium for the hostage-taking and torture of a 37-year-old Dutchman earlier this year, was arrested in Hungary, the Antwerp prosecutor’s office said on Tuesday. The latter also specified that he would request the extradition of the suspect to Belgium.
The victim was found on February 23 in Ravels (Antwerp) by workers. He was missing a finger and had other injuries that appeared to have been stabbed. The Dutchman was allegedly kidnapped and tortured, potentially in connection with a drug-related case.

The investigation quickly led to the arrest of three people, Dutch people aged 20 to 23. Last week, a fourth suspect was found. The man, of Rwandan nationality, resided in Hungary. The Hungarian police forces arrested him on Friday, in the apartment which he used as a hiding place. The Hungarian justice will have to decide on its possible handover to Belgium.
