A 23-year-old Dutchman who was to deliver drugs in Adinkerke, near the French border, thought he had spotted his client’s vehicle. The man made a big mistake. The council chamber of Veurne (West Flanders) extended its arrest warrant for a month on Friday for importing 30 kilos of cannabis.

The facts date back to July 30. The suspect who had transported a large quantity of drugs to Adinkerke, a section of the municipality of La Panne, was to find a dark-colored vehicle on a small path near the exit of the E40. The Dutchman approached such a car well, but ran into the police. The officers were in an unmarked vehicle and were investigating human trafficking at the time. They of course searched the suspect’s vehicle and discovered 30 kilos of cannabis.

The young man admitted that he had to deliver something, but his lawyer clarified that his client was unaware that it was such a quantity of narcotics. An analysis of the suspect’s mobile phone also revealed that he would also be involved in arms trafficking. An additional file could therefore be opened against him.
