Arrests made in international drug trafficking investigation, with raids in Belgium, Spain, and the Netherlands

Sixteen people were arrested as part of an investigation into a criminal organization involved in international drug trafficking, the Limburg public prosecutor’s office reported on Thursday. In addition to providing transportation, the gang allegedly provided sites to produce and store synthetic drugs. Searches carried out Tuesday morning led to the arrest of fourteen people. Over the past two days, a Belgian and a German have also been placed under arrest warrant.

Early Tuesday morning, police searched fourteen different locations in the provinces of Limbourg, Liège and Namur. Twelve people were arrested. Additionally, raids were carried out in Spain and the Netherlands. Two suspects were, in turn, deprived of their liberty. A synthetic drugs laboratory under construction was also discovered in Gingelom, in the province of Limburg. Weapons, money and drugs were found in several locations. After the first fourteen arrests ordered as part of the investigation, a fifteenth person was arrested in Belgium.

Tuesday and Wednesday, the thirteen suspects arrested in our country appeared before the investigating judge in Tongeren. The latter decided to release three people under conditions. The ten other suspects were placed under arrest warrant and imprisoned. Meanwhile, another suspect has been arrested in Germany as part of the investigation, bringing the total number of arrests in this large-scale operation to sixteen.
