By adding SMPTE ST 2110 natively to the LPS-1 base station, the system bridges high-end digital cinematography with the demanding real-time requirements of modern IP facilities.
Furthermore, multiple HD streams support HFR slow-motion acquisition over IP, ensuring that high-frame-rate replay directors don’t lose their preferred capture formats when cutting over to a packet-switched network layer.

To prevent dropped frames and dropped audio packets during mission-critical events, ARRI built seamless SMPTE ST 2022-7 redundancy directly into the LPS-1 architecture. By installing two third-party SFP28 25GbE fiber-optic transceiver modules at the rear of the base station, operators establish dual active network paths. To achieve this level of plug-and-play harmony, the software relies on an extensive suite of AMWA NMOS protocols alongside Precision Time Protocol (PTP). The implementation officially supports:
- SMPTE ST 2110-10: System timing and synchronization (PTP)
- SMPTE ST 2110-20: Uncompressed active video transport
- SMPTE ST 2110-21: Traffic shaping and packet timing
- SMPTE ST 2110-30: PCM audio transport (AES67 compatible)
- SMPTE ST 2110-40: Ancillary data transport (captions, VITC, timecode)
