Not yet in winter, but definitely in summer, Arsenal will be putting more and more pressure on acquiring the increasingly valuable Martín Zubimendi from Real Sociedad. Bayern Munich seems to be losing this duel by a small margin – suggested Fabrizio Romano and Christian Falk.
There have been plenty of rumors in the British media over recent weeks about the need for reinforcements at The Emirates in the context of fighting for trophies on two fronts. The Gunners will give their all in the spring to achieve an impressive finish in the Premier League and Champions League.
However, coach Mikel Arteta has already assured that there will be no revolution. There will be time for it, possibly after the end of the season.
The Real Sociedad defensive midfielder, with four goals and an assist in 20 LaLiga matches, is now the number one target not only for Arsenal but also for Bayern Munich after the idea of recruiting João Palhinhi was rejected.
– Zubimendi is certainly a really appreciated player by Arsenal. I would also add Bayern to this short list. A winter transaction is a complicated matter due to operational costs. The buyout clause is EUR 60 million, noted Fabrizio Romano in an interview for the “GIVEMESPORT” portal.
– Another difficulty is the point of view of Zubimendi himself. He wants to continue playing for his club. He is not only a fantastic player, but also a huge Sociedad fan. Now he wants to take advantage of the great opportunity of experiencing the adventure in the best sixteen of the Champions League – he added.
Christian Falk, one of the prominent reporters of “Bild”, added his proverbial two cents on the heated transfer speculation.
– Bayern has heard that Mikel Arteta is in constant contact with the player. Both are Spanish, which automatically gives Arsenal an advantage. Until recently, Bayern felt like the leader of the race, but now it has reasons to worry, he added.
Another hope for the Munich team is the fact that in the event of a possible dismissal of Thomas Tuchel and a course taken to employ Xabi Alonso from Bayer Leverksuen, the same agent represents the affairs of the Bundesliga leader’s coach and Zubimendi. So this race will contain many more fascinating laps.
The contract of the San Sebastian team graduate expires only at the end of June 2027.
