The Częstochowa Art Exhibition Office began to emerge in 1968. The project was commissioned to Włodzimierz Ściegienne, who would later become famous for another building in the city – the beautiful Wedding Palace with unique interiors that have survived to this day. The construction of BWA was completed in 1977 – the building, decorated with glass mosaics arranged in colorful stripes, was erected in a representative place, on the Avenue of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Following the example of other investments of this type, a Cepelia store was located next to the art gallery, of which today only the signboard and window stickers, shrinking with age, remain.

Rojst – where was the series filmed? Not only in Częstochowa

Although in Rojst Millenium was shot primarily in Częstochowa, scenes were also shot in Lower Silesia – in Świdnica, Dzierżoniów and Wałbrzych. In the third season, we also return to the Zadole housing estate in Katowice. The front appears and foyer Hotel Katowice, which served as an imitation of the demolished Hotel Silesia, which played in the second season of the TV series Hotel Centrum. Today, Hotel Katowice is already under renovation.

The police station was the seat of the Municipal Committee of the Polish United Workers’ Party in Częstochowa, later serving as a clinic. The second most common building in season 3 is the postmodern Częstochowa railway station. The hospital is the PAFAL Measuring Equipment Factory in Świdnica – also scheduled for renovation. In the last episode you can see the Cultural Center in Ruda Śląska.

If Rojst had started filming a decade later, the set of buildings that could have been used in the series would have shrunk significantly. The series city would look completely different.
