Artemis I: the NASA Orion capsule returns to Earth this Sunday (LIVE)

This Sunday, the Artemis I mission will end with the descent and landing of the Orion spacecraft. After 25 days in space and a 2.1 million kilometer journey around the Moon, Orion is expected to crash into the Pacific Ocean off California at 12:39 p.m. EST (17:39 UTC).

NASA’s Kennedy Space Center Exploration Earth Systems Recovery Team in Florida, in conjunction with the United States Navy, will then recover the spacecraft.

Orion was launched aboard the Space Launch System (SLS) rocket on November 16. Its objective: to prepare for the return of humans to the moon.
