Artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly present in medicine. “AI will progress rapidly“, assures the journalist and doctor Damien Mascret, present on the set of 12/13, Tuesday May 9. In radiology, “AI is able to detect tiny brain hemorrhages or identify an abnormal mammogram within minutes among thousands”, he illustrates. This computer system also makes it possible to detect “a suspicious lung nodule up to a year before a radiologist’s eye”.

AI to support doctors

According to the healthcare professional, AI will not replace doctors, but “help”. “Recently our colleagues from ‘Parisien’ told the story of this 51-year-old man who had been discovered with two brain metastases without finding the original cancer. […] It was the Institut Curie’s AI, thanks to data gathered by doctors, that found kidney cancer that had gone unnoticed.”, reports Damien Mascret. For him, a revolution is coming with “Advanced AI” capable of “diagnose rare diseases”.
