Technology is increasingly present in football and other sports. Now, several football clubs are using software based on artificial intelligence to find and sign good players who can meet the teams’ needs.

The program AIscout is one of the most used in the sector. The software allows players to participate in virtual tryouts for professional clubs by uploading videos of them executing a series of 75 exercises, designed to test various skills.

The videos sent are evaluated by artificial intelligence, which also makes the results available to several clubs that have partnerships with the platform. This makes the work of scouts easier, carrying out an effective search with a variety of AI filters.

Among the partners of AIscout, there are Chelsea and Burnley, clubs in the English Premier League (EPL). The teams also They can create specific tests in the application, so that they meet their own needs, whether they are a faster player or a better finisher.

Players from the clubs’ youth teams can also do the same exercises and be evaluated. “We are making this data available to make better use of scouts’ time,” said Richard Felton-Thomas, director of operations at the app developer.

The player Ben Greenwood had never tried out at a professional club and downloaded the app in 2019. After sending his videos, the 17-year-old was called by Chelsea for an evaluation and was signed by Bournemouth in 2021, who also play the EPL.
