Veteran filmmaker Kuku Kohli’s funeral in Mumbai drew prominent figures from the Hindi film industry as family members and colleagues gathered to bid a final farewell.

At the time of his passing, Kohli was actively serving the creative community as the General Secretary of the Indian Film and Television Directors’ Association (IFTDA). Colleagues across the sector highlighted his passing as a major loss to the fraternity, extending condolences to Aruna Irani as well as Kohli’s daughters from his first marriage, Pooja and Karishma Kohli.

Born Avtar Kohli, the veteran writer and director left a lasting imprint on Bollywood over a career spanning more than three decades. He made a formidable directorial debut with Phool Aur Kaante, a commercial success that notably introduced actor Ajay Devgn to the silver screen.
Following his breakout success, Kohli continued to direct several notable Hindi feature films through the 1990s and early 2000s, including Suhaag, Haqeeqat, Kohraam, Zulmi, Anari No. 1, Yeh Dil Aashiqanaa, and Woh Tera Naam Tha.
