Today was the first day of the holiday since social distancing disappeared.

Not only the airport, but also resorts across the country were crowded all day.

In particular, it is expected that 180,000 people will visit Jeju Island during this holiday season.

The lines waiting to check-in are endless.

I covered my mouth and nose with a quarantine mask, but I couldn’t even cover my excited expression.

Citizens lined up 20 meters apart, waiting to board the plane. As it was the first day of the holiday, there were a lot of tourists at the airport.

“I’ve been to (Jeju Island) before, so I don’t remember very well, but I’m so excited to go this time.”

Yesterday, before the start of the holiday, there were 483 flights leaving Gimpo Airport, 50 more than usual.

Conversely, the arrival area at Jeju International Airport was crowded.

About 45,000 tourists arrived on Jeju Island today.

About 180,000 people are expected to visit Jeju by the day after the holiday ends.

The accommodation reservation rate has risen to around 80%, and the rate of charter bus use has also jumped from 5% last year to 20%.

“Since I’m from Jeju Island, it’s great to dig in the sand, catch clams, and even dive in the water.”

Citizens continued to visit Haeundae Beach in Busan, where a large sand sculpture was built.

Various events such as the ‘Stand-up Paddle Boat’ international competition held for the first time in Korea and a donation marathon made people realize the recovery of daily life.

“It’s so good that I can’t wear a mask… I hope the corona will be alleviated and many people will come out and exercise…”

Citizens who could not leave far went to a campground in the city center.

“It’s been a long time since I’ve been outside, so I feel liberated and freed… I have high expectations, and since I haven’t been to camp, I think it’s newer.”

The first day of the holiday started with heat exceeding 30 degrees, but tonight, rain that started from Jeju Island will continue to the central region the next day.

There will be some places where it will rain quite a bit, up to 100 millimeters, but it will not be enough to alleviate the drought.
