Assassination or suicide?.. The death of Russian officials raises questions

The Russian-Ukrainian war has entered a new, bloodier phase of the conflict, as the features of the strategy of assassinations and physical liquidation are floating under the name of “suicide”, in contrast to the remarkable activity of the spies’ card between Moscow on the one hand and Kiev and its Western allies on the other.

Suicides and the killing of some officials in Russia, the latest of which is Marina Yankina, head of the Financial Appropriations Department for the Western Military District, represent question marks related to the war in Ukraine. According to experts and politicians who spoke to Sky News Arabia, there is a war of a special kind hidden between Moscow and Kiev.

Assassination or suicide
Yankina’s death came just two days after the death of Major General Vladimir Makarov, 72, who until recently served as deputy head of the counter-extremism department in the Ministry of Interior, until he was dismissed by Vladimir Putin’s decision despite describing him as the president’s loyal partner.

Polish politician and media figure Kamil Gil Katie says that there is intense pressure exerted in Russia against any official who fails, even partially, to perform his duties in the war, given that this is a Russian military legacy. in its war against Ukraine.

And Camille Gil Katy adds, in his statements to Sky News Arabia, that Marina Yankina is the latest in a long list of Russian military officials, defense figures, war critics, and gas and oil managers who have died suddenly and mysteriously since the start of the Russian-Ukrainian war, last year. Which favors the theory of the physical liquidation of opponents of the Kremlin or those who are negligent from Moscow’s point of view in its war with Ukraine.

Yankina was responsible for financing the war in Ukraine as head of the Ministry of Defense’s Financial Support Department for the Western Military District; There are indications of widespread fraud and embezzlement regarding Russian military financing of the war.

London accuses Moscow of attempting to assassinate the “spy”

Camille Gil-Katie attributed the validity of the theory of physical liquidation and not suicide for several reasons:
• The same statement of suicide has been published regularly over recent months upon the death of a high-ranking Russian
• Yankina’s belongings and documents were found on a balcony on the 16th floor of the building from which she is said to have fallen
• The death of a large number of Russians who occupy high positions in recent months, despite their close relations with Vladimir Putin

Regarding the conflict between the two sides, the Polish politician and media person confirms that since 2014, Ukraine has also been the epicenter of a more brutal secret conflict, with each side trying to recruit or eliminate spies, and this has been accompanied by assassinations of high-ranking Ukrainian officials as well.

The West and the War of Spies
During the past months, there have been active arrests of a number of agents between the two sides. Here, the Russian researcher in the history of international relations, Solonov Plavrev, says that the West is using its old weapon, which is recruiting spies to carry out assassinations, transfer information and distort Russia’s image as well.

And Solonov-Blavrev adds, in his interview with Sky News Arabia, that all the assassinations that took place in Russia in the past period confirm that the West is carefully studying those moves that need professionals to carry out operations in the heart of Moscow and eastern Ukraine, which is controlled by Russia, including:

• The assassination of journalist Daria Dugina, daughter of Alexander Dugina, dubbed “Putin’s mind” in a suburb of Moscow
• The assassination of Ivan Suchko, head of the military and civil administration in the city of Mikhaylovka, eastern Ukraine
• Last August, the mayor of Berdyansk, Alexander Lenko, was subjected to an assassination attempt, which was thwarted
• The assassination of the deputy head of the Nova Kakhovka administration in the Kherson region, Vitaly Gora
• Attempted assassination of Andriy Shevchik, mayor of the city of Energodar, Zaporozhye region

Solonov-Blavrev refers to Washington’s role, which he described as the most hostile, as it has been assisting Western intelligence agencies and special forces to train elements of their Ukrainian counterparts for many years, in order to use this card to correct Moscow’s image by carrying out operations in the heart of Russia.
