An assistant manager at a Burger King in South Carolina could face up to 20 years in prison for serving customers fries that came straight from the trash, according to local authorities.

Jaime Christine Major, 39, was charged with tampering with food on Monday for taking chips from the bin and adding them to the container where the freshly cooked chips are placed.

On July 9, authorities were called to the franchise’s restaurant when two customers caused a scene by yelling at restaurant staff, according to information from the New York Post.

The police ended up handcuffing the two women who refused to calm down, for disturbing public order, the police said daily.

It was not until two days later that Burger King’s head office reportedly corrected the situation with the police, telling them that Major had indeed served fries from the trash.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Ms. Major following an investigation. If found guilty, she faces up to 20 years in prison, according to the state.
