Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation Levitin: the question of canceling Fan ID is not worth it

Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation, First Vice President of the Russian Olympic Committee Igor Levitin said that the abolition of the Fan ID system is not being discussed. Earlier, State Duma deputy Vitaly Milonov said that he was preparing an initiative to cancel the fan’s passport. The use of Fan ID has been repeatedly opposed by football fan movements.

Fan ID (Fan ID) is a document required when attending sporting events in Russia. On the territory of the Russian Federation, it was first used before the Olympics in Sochi. You can get a Fan ID either through the “Gosuslugi” or at the MFC.

“The decision has been made, the system has been activated. If there are any issues with the design, it needs to be corrected. There is no question of canceling the fan card today,” said Mr. Levitin (quoted from “RIA Novosti”).

March 5 Vitaly Milonov told about the intention to send an appeal with a request to cancel the fan identification system until the gaps in its work are eliminated. “This is some kind of madness with Fan ID. Those who introduced it achieved the opposite effect. Personally, I think that Fan ID did not justify itself,” he added. The creation of a project on the partial abolition of Fan ID was also supported by State Duma deputy from the Communist Party Sergei Obukhov.

On December 30, 2021, President Vladimir Putin signed the law on Fan ID. Initially, visiting with a FAN ID was mandatory only at five Russian stadiums. However, from December 1, 2022, the law was extended to all Premier League matches. Against the backdrop of the widespread introduction of the fan identification system, the number of spectators in the stands has dropped sharply.
