Association of Administrative Judges for Tempi: We express our unwavering confidence in the independent Greek judiciary – 2024-03-23 21:32:09

The members of the Board of Directors of the Association of Administrative Judges, on the occasion of the one-year anniversary of the tragic train accident in Tempe, issued two announcements. One is of the majority and the second is of two members of the Board of Directors.

In particular, the majority of the Board of Directors of the EDD, in its announcement, states:

“The Association of Administrative Judges, on the occasion of the anniversary of the tragic train accident in Tempe, expresses its solidarity with the relatives of the victims, whose pain and suffering it fully shares. As an association of judicial officers, it follows with particular interest the development of the case and, like the whole of Greek society, looks forward to its full investigation from a criminal, civil and administrative point of view and the assignment of responsibilities accordingly. In this context, it expresses its unshakable trust in the independent Greek judiciary”.

At the same time, two members of the Board of Directors of the Union, Vassilis Faitas and Vanessa-Panagiota Dega, in their joint statement state: “The public position of the President of the Union Panagiotis Danias against the European Prosecutor Laura Kovesi regarding the investigation into the causes of the train accident in Tempe does not serve the case of search for the truth at a time when relatives of the victims denounce violations of the rule of law and cover-ups. This statement, disparaging the loss of the relatives of the victims, does not echo the position of the administrative judges, that we support the fair demand of the Greek society for the complete elimination of the crime and the performance of all the resulting responsibilities”.
