Disney has unveiled plans for a new residential community called Asteria, located in North Carolina. The project, part of Disney’s Storyliving initiative, aims to create communities that cater to individuals who want to incorporate the magic of Disney into their everyday lives.
Inspired by the spirit of discovery, Asteria will be designed to encourage exploration of the region’s natural beauty and foster lifelong learning. The community will be built on 1,500 acres in the town of Pittsboro, offering residents a mix of metropolitan amenities and a small-town feel. With numerous parks and miles of trails, Asteria will provide ample opportunities for walking, biking, and outdoor activities.
The community will feature more than 4,000 units, including single-family and multi-family homes. Certain areas will be designated for individuals aged 55 and above. In addition to the residential units, Asteria will offer a wellness and recreation center, a restaurant, sport courts, swimming pools, a community garden, and outdoor spaces for lawn games, events, and fire pits.
Sales for homes in Asteria are expected to commence by 2027. While pricing details have not been revealed, the Storyliving website suggests that single-family homes in the first community, Cotino, located in California’s Coachella Valley, are anticipated to range from the upper $1 millions to the lower $2 millions.
This announcement marks the expansion of Disney-branded communities to the East Coast, following the strong initial interest in Storyliving’s first community in California. The company aims to create unique and immersive visions for each project, drawing inspiration from Walt Disney’s innate curiosity and the spirit of discovery found in each location.
