ASUS Zenfone 11 Ultra Review: Unboxing, Performance, and Camera Quality

2024-03-25 20:27:20

ASUS has been uncharacteristically this year. It has made big moves since the launch of the Zenfone series. Zenfone 11 Ultra was immediately launched in Hong Kong as soon as it was released, with unprecedented efficiency. In fact, I really like the Zenfone 11 Ultra launched this time. It has a very pleasing appearance, and its shooting capabilities have been fully upgraded. The most important thing is that its performance is really higher than other flagship phones. Basically, any Everything satisfies my appetite. By the way, a warm reminder, this review is based on my personal subjective opinion.

Unboxing

The only accessories that come with the Zenfone 11 Ultra are dual USB-C cables and a hard case. Why doesn’t it even come with a charger?

Body details

Ultra represents the most powerful flagship, and the screen is naturally unambiguous. It uses the same Samsung E6 AMOLED LTPO panel as the ROG Phone 8, a 6.78-inch AMOLED 2400 x 1080 screen, and supports 144Hz refresh rate and HDR10+. The peak brightness can eventually reach 2500nit. The biggest difference is that ROG Phone 8 is 165Hz.

The opening for the front lens is relatively small

Compared with the slightly curved sides, this 2.5D-like screen feels better in the hand when used.

The pattern on the back is not irregular, but an A-line pattern, the brand DNA of ASUS, and it has a little bit of ROG Phone. The pattern is glossy and the body is matte, reflecting under the light.

The buttons are arranged on the right side of the fuselage in a traditional way.

The thickness of the fuselage seems to be a little thicker than that of ordinary flagships. It is just a little bit thicker. The bare machine feels just right to hold. However, if the thickness is increased after adding a cover, the hand feeling will be reduced a lot.

There is an absolutely advanced 3.5mm headphone jack at the bottom of the phone. It’s simple and great. My wired headphones can finally make a comeback.

The design of the lens group is exactly the same as that of ROG Phone 8, except that ROG has an extra corner detail.

Benchmarks and performance

Coming to the performance part, Zenfone 11 Ultra uses the most powerful Snapdragon processor, and its performance output is terrifying. I wonder if it is the same as the ROG Phone 8. In terms of performance, it can be said to be the same as the ROG Phone 8. Look at everything. It’s like AnTuTu’s benchmark score. The result was 2.15 million points, which is quite surprising. Even the Geekbench 6 running scores are crazy, with a single-core score of 2250 and a multi-core score of 7040. The performance is on par with the ROG Phone 8.

Coming to 3D Mark, Solar Bay scored 8667 and Wild Life Extreme scored 5187.

System features

Zenfone 11 Ultra and ROG Phone 8 both have Game Genie. Of course, there are differences between Dapo and Concubine. There seems to be little difference between the two in terms of interface, but in terms of details, Zenfone 11 Ultra does not have the AI gaming functions of ROG Phone 8 at all, but they are actually pretty good.

You can directly adjust it to a high-performance state in the system settings. Of course, you can also adjust the performance according to your needs.

For the system interface, you can choose ASUS’s own optimized design, or you can choose the native Android interface design. Of course, you can also choose a mixture of your own.

Greatly improved shooting power

The main lens of Zenfone 11 Ultra is Sony IMX890 sensor, which provides 50 million pixels, supports 2.54um 4-in-1 pixel technology, 6-axis anti-shake technology + 32 million pixels 3X optical zoom telephoto lens (supports OIS optical anti-shake) + 13 million pixels 120 Ultra wide angle lens.

0.7X1X2X3X10X30X

The Zoom capability of Zenfone 11 Ultra is still very good. First of all, the 6-axis anti-shock capability is really strong. Basically, the telephoto is very stable. For telephoto, 10X is within the usable range, and 30X is also barely usable. What I use is oil painting to make it more obvious.

Portrait mode shooting effect

It’s better not to use macro photography. Shoot directly with 2X, which gives a better natural depth of field.

HDR performance is also excellent

Bright colors

When it comes to night photography, adequate shockproofing is the biggest help when lighting is insufficient. The gimbal function of Zenfone 11 Ultra is a very useful feature.

Only when you see the small circle of the gimbal, make sure the small dot remains in the center of the circle to get the best shockproof effect.

Thanks to the 6-axis anti-shock, the edges are still sharp and dry when shooting in such low light conditions.

Powerful performance, even when shooting at ultra-wide angle

Even if you use Zoom, it’s still great

Do you accept the performance of this night shoot?

Summarize

Zenfone 11 Ultra gives me the feeling that the ROG Phone 8 has been designed to be more suitable for daily use in terms of functionality and appearance. For those who want the wild performance of ROG Phone 8, but also want daily use scenarios without the need for shoulder buttons specially designed for gaming. In fact, the shooting is exactly the same as the ROG Phone 8. If you really want to say it, Zenfone 11 Ultra is just like a ROG Phone 8, but without some hard-core gaming assistance. Another point is that Zenfone 11 Ultra has powerful AI capabilities.
