The attack on the positions of the Central African armed forces (FACA) on July 3, 2022 by the UPC-CPC rebels caused the death of at least twelve people. The clashes take place in Dimbi.

The provisional assessment of the clashes between the rebels of the UPC-CPC and the FACAS reports 12 dead on the side of the assailants, 2 FACAS injured and a young self-defense member killed. Some rebels have been arrested, report security sources. The fighters of the rebel movement were heavily armed, we learn. This prompted the elements of the Central African armed forces to retreat.

The fighting resumed with the intervention of Russian mercenaries. They came in support on board the helicopters. Thanks to the aerial intervention of Wagner’s mercenaries, the rebels were pushed back from the city.

Government forces are reported to have regained control of the area. A curfew has also been introduced in Dimbi.
