(CNN Spanish) — At least 18 people died this Saturday after a passenger bus collided with a truck carrying fuel in the municipality of Hidalgo, in the state of Tamaulipas, north of Mexicoreported the State Attorney General’s Office in a communiqué.
The Prosecutor’s Office indicated that “the deceased were traveling on the bus to Monterrey, the impact occurred due to the possible detachment of a container that was transporting fuel, in the direction of Ciudad Victoria.”

The Secretary of Public Security of the State said in another statement that the alleged driver of the truck is being investigated to “determine if he has any responsibility in the accident.”
