At least eight workers are feared trapped after a portion of an under-construction tunnel collapsed in Telangana on Saturday. the incident occurred on a section of the tunnel behind the Srisailam dam while workers were inside repairing a leak. While many managed to escape, eight remain missing, prompting a large-scale rescue operation.

According to a senior official, the tunnel collapsed over 10 meters, with mud spreading over 200 meters. The official statement from the authorities described the incident as a partial collapse of the roof of the left-side tunnel, measuring three meters, at the 14th kilometer point of the Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) tunnel near Domalapenta.
Substantially, this tunnel had only reopened four days prior to the collapse.
