“At least I didn’t kill anyone”

The Brazilian President, Jair Bolsonaro, He backtracked on his statements where he encouraged the use of chloroquine as a treatment for the coronavirus, admitting that it is not effective in treating Covid-19.

During an address on social networks, the President assured that, “It may be that in the future someone will say that the option (for chloroquine) is zero, that it is a placebo. All good, patience, I apologize, bye “.

He even finished off saying that “At least I didn’t kill anyone.”

Bolsonaro, who had coronavirus in July of last year, defended on multiple occasions the use of this antimalarial drug whose efficacy against the virus is not scientifically proven and which generates a strong debate in the international scientific community.

By confirming his diagnosis, on July 7 outside the Palacio de la Alvorada, the President assured that his treatment would be based on said medicine and even published a video taking hydroxychloroquine.

Brazil is one of the countries hardest hit by the coronavirus pandemic. According to the Ministry of Health of that country there are almost 9.5 million confirmed cases and 229 thousand deaths.
