Athletics: Fraser-Pryce, Rojas and Knighton will ignite Pontaise – rts.ch

The Athletissima field is enriched with 3 new very high level athletes. Five-time 100m world champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, triple jump world record holder Yulimar Rojas and new 200m nugget Erriyon Knighton have confirmed their presence in Lausanne on August 26.

Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce might well sparkle at Pontaise. The 35-year-old Jamaican, crowned in the 100m in 10”67 at the Eugene Worlds, seems to have Florence Griffith-Joyner’s world record (10”49) in her legs. She had signed the 3rd fastest time in history last year on the Vaud tartan (10”60).

Erriyon Knighton (18) meanwhile became the 4th best performer in history over 200m this spring (19”49). The young American will find his compatriot and rival Noah Lyles in Lausanne, who set his personal best three years ago in Lausanne (19”50).

The organizers also announce the participation of the queen of the triple jump Yulimar Rojas, who took off at 15m52 last year at Pontaise, and the Olympic champion of the 110m hurdles Hansle Parchment. The men’s javelin competition also looks promising, with Jakub Vadlejch and Vitezslav Vesely having notably been hired to challenge Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra.
