Atlanta Braves Dominate Rockies with 16th Win: Ozuna’s 30th Home Run and Morton’s Stellar Performance

DENVER — Marcell Ozuna hit his 30th home run of the season, Charlie Morton pitched six innings of one-run ball and the Atlanta Braves beat the Colorado Rockies 3-1 on Tuesday night for their 16th win in 21 games.

Atlanta, the best team this season in the majors, went 86-45, including going 6-0 against the Rockies, whom they have beaten 57 runs to 17 combined.

Colorado, which has lost its last 12 games against Atlanta, languishes with a 49-83 record, worst in the National League, and is guaranteed its fifth consecutive losing season. The Rockies have lost a total of eight of their last nine games.

Ozuna hit his fifth home run in eight games, a solo shot in the second off Peter Lambert (3-5). He added an RBI single in the fifth.

Sean Murphy hit an RBI single in the second.

Morton (14-10) allowed three hits, struck out eight and walked one.

For the Braves, Venezuelans Ronald Acuña Jr. 5-2, Orlando Arcia 3-1. The Dominican Ozuna 4-2 with a run scored and two produced. Puerto Rican Eddie Rosario 5-1 with a run scored.

For the Rockies, Venezuelans Ezequiel Tovar 4-0, Elías Díaz 4-1, Harold Castro 3-0 with an RBI.
