ATP – Barcelona > Tsitsipas does not take off, the student Alcaraz exceeds the master of toilet breaks

“If you’re wrong, you should be fired”, released Stefanos Tsitsipas to the referee after the latter inflicted two penalty points on him in the fourth game of the decisive set. The reason ? The Greek went to the locker room at 0–3 for Alcaraz and came back too late.

Tsitsipas then got annoyed because according to him, his opponent also took way too long to come back from his toilet break before the start of the third set. And the referee did not flinch.

You should know that the timer is only started when the player enters the WC, and not when he leaves the court. The disagreement may be on this aspect of the rules.

Anyway, Tsitsipas disagreed with the referee on the length of Alcaraz’s break. At the end of the match, he shared a story on Instagram which claims that indeed, the Spaniard would have been absent for more than seven minutes.

Asked about the break taken by Tsitsipas in the middle of the third set, Alcaraz expressed his surprise. The conclusion is that he succeeded in breaking the rhythm of the world number 5, who came back from afar in the second inning.
