ATP Gstaad: Dominic Stricker released in eighth – rts.ch

For the eighth consecutive edition, no Swiss will see the quarter-finals in Gstaad. The last Swiss in the running, Dominic Stricker (ATP 180) lost 6-3 4-6 6-1 to Albert Ramos-Vinolas (ATP 40).

Titled in Gstaad in 2019, Ramos-Vinolas was able to exploit a slump from Stricker to win the last 6 games of the 3rd set. In this left-handed duel, he took control in this round of 16 when the Bernese had just benefited from a ball to lead 2-0 in this last round.

Before that, the 19-year-old Swiss had managed to prolong the suspense by seizing his opponent’s serve at 5-4 on his 4th break point to win the 2nd set.

Dominic Stricker will be competing next week at the Zug Challenger. The time has come for the 2020 Junior Roland-Garros Champion to string together victories once more.
