A Ferrari 250 GTO, described by Sotheby’s as the “Holy Grail of the pantheon of sports cars”, was sold on Monday in New York for $51.7 million, making it the second most expensive car sold at auction. The absolute record remains held by a Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR Uhlenhaut Coupé, which sold in 2022 for 135 million euros.
