Austria Salzburg beats feared opponents confidently

With a 4-2 home win over Seekirchen, the favorites to enter the Westliga consolidated their lead in the upper play-off of the Regionalliga Salzburg

Austria Salzburg has mastered the first hurdle on the extra meters towards the Westliga. The violets, who missed the nationwide showdown in spring and gave way to Bischofshofen and Saalfelden, won the first match in the top play-off of the Regionalliga Salzburg against Seekirchen 4-2. While the Flachgauer, who have been among the most unpleasant opponents of the Maxglaners in recent years (in the last ten duels only two wins for Austria), are still waiting for their first victory in spring and are fourth on a relegation rank, Austria is as Leader on course towards Westliga qualification.

Austria doesn’t let anything burn – state cup is waiting

Austria lived up to their role as favorites early on Saturday. Marinko Sorda and Alexander Schwaighofer brought a 2-0 lead in the first quarter of an hour. And when the guests from Seekirchen shortened the lead in the second half through Christoph Chudoba, the Austrians dampened their hopes of a trend reversal only a short time later. In the end, goals from Matthias Theiner and Marco Hödl and Jonas Vorderegger made it 4:2 for the home side. After St. Johann’s 5-2 opening win against Grünau so the second match in the upper play-off was not stingy with goals either. In the lower play-off, Golling defeated Anif 2-0 thanks to goals from Tobias Lindenthaler and Lukas Poindl. It continues in the state cup: Austria welcomes Grünau in the quarter-finals on Wednesday, Seekirchen has to go to Thalgau, Kuchl travels to Mittersill. Hallein is already a guest in Siezenheim on Tuesday.
