Österreichische Post is expanding its Sunday delivery footprint by integrating sehen!wutscher, a leading domestic family business specializing in optics and hearing acoustics, into its specialized weekend shipping roster.
The Logistics Behind Styrian Sunday Deliveries
Starting August 23, packages from sehen!wutscher will be delivered across Graz and the surrounding Graz-Umgebung district on Sundays, according to logistics reports. This move builds on a trial deployment launched in July 2025 across the Styrian capital. The local fulfillment model has scaled rapidly, with delivery volumes now clearing an average of 3,000 parcels every Sunday in the region.
This premium Sunday infrastructure isn’t open to standard consumer mailings. Instead, the service targets commercial shipping partners willing to absorb an additional surcharge for seventh-day drop-offs. Traditional packages continue on their conventional Monday-through-Saturday delivery schedules without interruption.
Broadening the Metropolitan Delivery Network
Graz isn’t the sole testing ground for this operational shift. Österreichische Post has rolled out Sunday package handovers in other major urban centers, including Vienna, Linz, and Salzburg.
Alongside weekend door-to-door fulfillment, the postal operator is heavily scaling its automated infrastructure. The deployment of 24/7 post stations and self-service pickup kiosks is changing how urban residents manage parcel retrieval outside standard business hours.
Sustainability on the Last Mile
Environmental metrics remain a core component of the Graz expansion. Last-mile deliveries within the city limits have operated entirely free of direct carbon emissions since late 2021. Integrating sensitive optical and acoustic shipments into an established green fleet demonstrates that rapid commercial scaling can coexist with municipal climate targets.
